As Melbourne’s water authority, Melbourne Water requires clear communication with diverse audiences. Fluid has delivered over 100 projects for Melbourne Water, including educational programs, corporate reports, and environmental signage. Our design strategy and creative output support Melbourne Water’s mission to enhance life and liveability. From fun, interactive collateral for schools to strategic corporate publications, our work ensures clear, effective, and engaging communication.

Making a Splash with School Kids

To support Melbourne Water’s Water Literacy program, Fluid Branding was briefed to develop new suite of collateral for teachers and school children including PowerPoint templates, Word templates, colouring in cards and worksheets. The resulting collateral is fun and interactive, which has encouraged kids to engage with the program and learn about water and the environment.

Taking a Strategic Approach to Sign Design

Melbourne water’s existing sign system was a little tired and dated, and it didn’t have the design flexibility to communicate to a more diverse range of audiences. Fluid worked with Melbourne Water to create a new system that could easily flex from functional wayfinding signage in a carpark, to a site hoarding that could bring the brand to life and inspire the community. To make it easier for anyone at Melbourne Water to create a new sign, sign types are now classified according to their intended purpose rather than sign type. Functional signs identify, help with navigation, advise or communicate warnings. Emotive signs educate, promote or commemorate. The result is modern, efficient and fresher sign system that makes implementation easier and communication more effective.
